They were all there

I knew that it was a collection of old and abandoned school desks, which had not been used for over twenty-five years. When I first saw them, an inner emotion overwhelmed me. I felt that life was beating faintly, imperceptibly but certainly, in those wooden boards. They were the documented collective memory of individuals, who indeed “were all there.”

Art For All

From where does the concept of Art for All stem?

We came up with the idea of Art For All, and we organized this festival to hold a collective demonstration of innovative and vibrant Saudi art that reflects a variety of artistic paths demonstrating high ideals of beauty.

Art is inestimable, its price is only a symbolic representation of its value, and it should not be out of the reach of any art lover.

Europ’Art

The Al-Mansouria Foundation for Culture and Creativity, in cooperation with the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, has announced that it will be participating in the ninth annual Geneva Exhibition for Visual arts (Europ’Art) which will take place from May 3 to 7.

Europ’Art is a unique cultural experience within the international arts movements. It is a reflection of the best works to be found in Swiss and other European galleries as well as works from the American and Middle Eastern art arenas. Europ’Art brings them all together in an exclusive area that can accommodate approximately 50,000 visitors. The event is the perfect opportunity to introduce selected art works to a large number of people, including major international art collectors, promoters, marketeers, exhibition organizers and a vast number of visitors.

Samra

Previous - Next

In our endeavor to encourage excellence in art production across the country, we undertook a thorough quest that led us to Faisal Samra, a talented artist from the eastern part of Saudi Arabia, who was producing remarkable work that had propelled him into the international scene. Paradoxically, this had not helped in making his work known and accessible to people nationally, and we sought to restore him to our country. We prepared for him to meet with the Saudi public, who deserved to be offered the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of one of our most brilliant artists.

Hammas

“As the new millennium approaches, few people outside the borders of Saudi Arabia are aware of the talent, potential and vibrancy that exists within the Kingdom’s art world. Paris has always sought to discover, welcome and interact with other cultures and was The Al-Mansouria Foundation’s natural choice as the venue in which to present the Saudi artist Abdullah Hammas, whose work has been chosen for our first international exhibition.”

“Shadia’s scattered treasures, brought together for the first time as a collection in this retrospective, reveal the interrelating articulation of her artistic expression for almost a decade. Although some artists are acquainted with Shadia’s work through reproductions, her original paintings have been viewed only by a very few. For despite the closeness of her experience to the very heart of the spiritual intricacies of Saudi art, Shadia’s work has been notably absent from art exhibitions both locally and throughout the Arab world.”

Utopia

I was approached for the project Utopia to choose the Saudi Arabian artists most qualified to express the nature of our country. Consequently, the selected painting will act as our ambassador on the tail of British Airways airplanes. This campaign was an opportunity for the most discerning of our artists to express the spirit of our country’s distinct civilization. Indeed, this quest became a labor of love, Read More
