The merely beautiful does not qualify as art. Art occurs as the result of the artist finding just the right way to express his subject, whatever it may be, despite the inherent technical and intellectual challenges.
My early works were searching for beauty in people and objects, but now I find that they express something different: the sensation of sight, and its associated ideas and emotions. My goal is the expression of something deeper than the surface impression.
